The Adirondack Experience, at The Museum on the Blue Mountain Lake will be having a mushroom-filled weekend this weekend!

Starting off on Friday, August 23; the Lake View Cafe will be celebrating all things culinary mushrooms. Working with both farmed and foraged mushrooms from Collar City Mushrooms, Chef David Stein will take diners on a culinary journey through five courses from starters, through appetizers and soups, to a main course and dessert.

Boasting both meat-eater and vegan options, the full menu can be found on their website.

And then on Saturday, 24 they will be hosting the Mushroom Mania Festival; which is included with general admission.

With something fun for all the family, the day will be jam-packed with events to teach you about the mycelium superhighway hidden beneath all of our feet.

Throughout the day, from 10 am to 4 pm, there will be demos and workshops at the Marion River Carry Pavilion; including tips on how to grow mushrooms at home with take-home kits with Andy LeBlanc; Fiber art mushroom sculptures with Connie Noftsier, and Interbeing Projects board game Shroomscape! If you enjoy learning to think like a mushroom, at 1 pm, in the ADKX alcove, they will be playing Shroomscape on a larger-than-life scale!

Also throughout the day, you can bring your mushroom samples from home to be identified by experts in the Quiet Room, as well as check out local small businesses selling their wares at the Marion River Carry Pavilion.

Starting at 10:30 is a jampacked schedule of presentations at the auditorium and walks heading off from the Marion River Carry Pavilion. For a full schedule, check out the event information on their site.

For those who can’t get enough of culinary mushrooms, Chef David Stein will be holding two cooking demonstrations at 11:45 am and 2:30 pm, teaching the audience tips and techniques to make the best out of different mushrooms.

And for kids, throughout the day there will be coloring pages and puzzles, art lab mushroom activities, and a scavenger hunt.

This is in addition to the beautiful views and permanent exhibits at the museum, which on its own is a fantastic day out!
