Famous boxer and entrepreneur Mike Tyson is adding a new product to his offerings from Tyson 2.0. Whereas the company had previously focused on cannabis products, he is now offering Mikeadelics—a psychedelic mushroom grow kit. He joins Wiz Khalifa in the slew of celebrities joining the mushroom-growing sphere.
Mike Tyson said, “Psychedelics changed my whole life” in an interview with Maxim magazine, and pointed out he would not be boxing if it weren’t for them, which is why he wants to make it easier for people to grow and consume the shrooms at home.
All about the Mikadelics grow kit
The kit is created with Advanced Mycology, which produces mushroom grow bags with advanced technology.
The five key elements of their grow bags that they advertise make their products stand out from the rest are their filter strips, substrate blend, patent-pending microwave technology, shelf life, and genetics guarantee.
The filter strips used in their grow bags are completely unique and allow air to enter and CO2 to leave. This allows the mushrooms to stay in the bag until harvest, rather than risk transferring them to a tub or tent or risk mold growing on your mushrooms.
Their substrate blend has been tested for over four years and contains millet, coco coir, vermiculite, gypsum, worm castings, crushed oyster shells, water, and Mycoboost. They don’t use manure in the substrate at all.
Every bag is fully sterilized and vacuum sealed, meaning it can be used as soon as it is delivered. However, they suggest microwaving the bags to increase the yield and overall success of the mycelium. This is completely optional, so it isn’t needed if people don’t own a microwave. This also extends the shelf life of the bags, as it inhibits the growth of bacteria. They believe that the shelf life is practically unlimited!
So what about Mikeadelics?
This bag replaces the former two-pound grow bag and is noted to be the easiest way to grow your own mushrooms. Tyson himself said the experience was thoroughly enjoyable.
But the bags don’t come with everything. You will need to buy the genetics – the injected liquid culture that actually contains the mushrooms – separately. Advanced Mycology suggests their bags for use with Coast 2 Coast Mycology liquid culture.
What’s the legality of growing magic mushrooms?
Mikeadelics bags, along with all the rest of the Advanced Mycology bags, are completely legal to buy. They aren’t just for psychedelics but can be used with any kind of mushroom – although they do recommend using them with cubensis mushrooms. The bags only contain millet, substrate, and water.
The genetics suggested for buying with the grow bags are for very early-stage mycelium and are also technically legal.
The only thing that might cause legal issues, depending on where you live, is the mushrooms that you grow with the kit. You will need to check the local laws where you live as to whether the growing and consuming of psychedelic mushrooms is legal or whether it can get you into trouble.
Currently, psilocybin is only legal for regulated therapeutic use in Oregon and Colorado. Yet several states and individual counties have been pushing for decriminalization after mounting research into their treatment for depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mental health treatments.
More cities have declared psychedelics as a low priority for law enforcement, meaning that although it is still illegal, you are less likely to get in trouble for their use. It is important to know that you can still get into legal trouble, though. It is always best to check all your local laws before deciding whether or not you want to grow and consume psychedelics.
